My project is important because it involves a dream and a path of hard work e determination. Last year I had to change the course of my education to follow a completely different path from my colleagues’. At times I felt scared and afraid, because I didn’t had much support. I studied for days and nights to a new test when I had trained for and had taken the Brazilian test for college for years. And besides adversity I managed to get into one of the fifteen best universities in the world and the most applied to university in the world with more than 92000 applications for 5000 spots. This university, besides being really good in every aspect, does not offer scholarship for international students. You must pay $61,000 per year to study there as an international student. This is a huge investment, I know, but I need and deserve an excellent education for my future purposes: being a Doctor without Borders and help people all around the world. This project is so important to me, because I can’t imagine myself in Brazil anymore. I truly love my country and I recognize it gave me the basis I have today, but I feel there’s so much out there for me too, so I don’t want to limit myself, I want to be a citizen of the world. By accomplishing my objectives, I will be able to help people all around the world and in my country. By going to the US, I will be opening doors for other students of my state to go, since I will be available for counseling and helping others who want to seek a similar path. I would like you to give me a chance to achieve more in life and to have this new experience that will help me to grow as a person. The university is not only a place to learn. It is a place of networking, responsibility, determination, hard work and achievement. By being at UCLA I will get to study with the world brightest young people, have classes with Nobel laureates, make research in different areas and open my eyes to a world of opportunity. I feel I am going to the right direction in fighting for my objectives and I would like you help in this path!

I am a very hardworking student. I won two high school diplomas: an American one by Texas Tech High School and a Brazilian one by Centro Educacional Leonardo Da Vinci. I studied from 7am until 7pm at school at least two days a week while in the other days I studied from 7am until 5:30pm, so I could win my double diplomas. I speak five languages: Portuguese, English, Spanish, French and German, all of which I learned at school. I had the opportunity to travel almost the whole world with my school in international Academic Trips, which made me open my eyes to the plethora of opportunities that were out there for me. I was always involved in sports; I’ve played handball, basketball, tennis and made Olympic gymnastics. Now I run Track & Field 5km runs, surf and skate. My involvement in the community is big! I worked with many NGOs and I created my own initiative to help in-risk children have new opportunities and learn how to surf: Angels of Surf. I worked at FAAVE taking care of the elderly, played guitar for mentally ill patients, took care of diaper donation campaigns in my school, worked with children in LGW, worked in food donation campaigns, sang for my church choir and actually I work with Paralympic athletes in ESFI as a guide, teach young teenagers how to surf with Angels of Surf and take care of the children in my church every Sunday. I am an ambassador at NSHSS and this year I’ve passed in 15 colleges, 7 with scholarships.
